(no subject)

I finally brought my car in to get the tailgate repaired after I was rear-ended back in September. I am also getting the cracked windshield replaced after driving around with it for over 3 years. Aside from the windshield, the damage to the car is minor and almost unnoticeable. I just don't like bringing the car in for repairs as it always involves the hassle of picking it up without a ride and such. However, I have the motorcycle insured so that makes things a bit easier. :)

I didn't realize that my current insurance coverage did not include the use of a courtesy vehicle when mine is in for repairs. The person at the autobody repair shop told me someone could give me a ride back to work after I drop it off. She suggested that I could bring the car in at 8AM but she neglected to tell me that no one was available until 8:30 to give me a ride. The person that was there this morning offered to pay for a taxi for me but I decided to walk back to work. It took only about 15 minutes anyhow.

I saw the documentary companion to the book, No Logo a few days ago. Naomi Klein looks so cute. Smart and cute.

Transit

I know many of you utilize the transit system daily but bear with me. Today was the first time I got onto a bus in about 2 years. I could have taken the Skytrain but that was too easy!

First of all, it took about 20 minutes to walk to the bus stop. When I got there, the bus driver arrived and then took a break and ate his sushi. I didn't realize that bus fare was so expensive! Driving my car is actually cheaper.

The bus driver was one of the very cheerful and friendly ones. However, one of the first things I noticed when I found a seat was that some people really need to wear deodorant (or bathe). I got up and found another seat. my observations:

- It was about 3:30 so a lot of school kids got onto the bus at one stop.
- A little white-haired old senior got on too but the kids took all the seats so I gave him mine.
- One girl sitting near where I was standing accidentally kicked me in the knee. She just looked at me and said to her friend, "I just kicked a guy."
- A teenager accidentally bumped my foot on his way out and apologized. Hmmm... there's some hope yet.
- One of the cafetaria workers was on the same bus and I chatted with him until his stop.
- At the next bus to get downtown, the bus driver didn't see me behind some people getting on. The doors shut and squeezed me from both sides. The bus almost took off until the bus driver heard me and some passengers yell.

Altogether, it took me 1.5 hours to get home. It would probably have taken about 50 minutes by Skytrain. I'm more used to 25 minutes by car/motorcycle. I'm glad I am using the motorcycle tomorrow and my car will be ready on Friday.
