I really wanted to see X-Men II: The Last Stand with Daevina today. I thought I could make it after dinner with my family and treat my brother to the movie since he was coming for a shower at my place anyway. But my brother decided that he didn't feel like seeing the movie. And then after dinner, he said that he thought that I was going to see the movie without me. He said he wasn't going to come over for a shower today. I could just kill him... I might had just enough time to make it back downtown for the show. But I guess he did buy me dinner the other day so I'll have to forgive him. Sigh... I would have loved to hear some behind the scenes stories that I'm sure Daevina had.

I told my sister about the luck I had getting the goalie pads before the price went up by $100USD. She suggested that I should have haggled for a lower price. WHAT?!!! The pads were already extremely low in price and even with the increase it would have been a great deal. Peter Smith, the person who makes and sells these pads, has been making pads for professional goalies and designing them for the larger manufaturers for years. If I tried haggling, I would probably have insulted him and it's very possible that he would have even refused to sell me anything after. Besides, he has a 12-13 week waiting list right now so he doesn't have to haggle to get a sale. This was one of the worst advice my suster gave me but I guess that's also why she's so well off and retired early.

I made it out to the Roundhouse for a rare odissi dance performance this early afternoon. I got there an hour and a half early to make sure I had seats in the front and luckily I did as the theatre filled up. I prefer the front seats in order to get an unobstructed view of the dancers, their intricate footwork and for photography purposes.

I had to drag [livejournal.com profile] evrydyishallown out of bed for this. She was grateful and enjoyed the show but the silly girl should not have stayed out so late last night! ;P

I enjoyed the performance and it was the first time I had seen odissi performed live. I had probably waited to see this show since I heard about it in September. I still prefer bharatanatyam but this was still good. Both styles are fundamentally similiar but odissi has much more softer movements.
