Jul. 12th, 2006 10:46 amMy Advanced Riders Training motorcycle course starts tonight. I'll be heading out to Coquitlam for the classroom half of it.
I had just discovered that a group of local female motorcycle riders, who call themselves The Hot Chicks, had chosen this same class to attend. I don't know what to think about this. I have met some of them before and some of them are quite flaky.
They often organize group rides and are inevitably followed by an even larger group of hormone-addled males on their bikes. I generally avoid them when I can because I don't want to be anywhere near their male groupies when one of them decides to perform a stunt or speed around a corner in order to get their attention. The roads are dangerous enough already.
But this is a classroom with a limited number of students. I just hope that when I show up for the second half of the course at the track, there won't be too many people there to watch. I heard that some spectators will be there to watch some of the "Hot Chicks". That is just too distracting. And when I'm riding through the track at likely high speeds, the last thing I need is for myself to become distracted... or one of the other riders on the track with me.

Jul. 12th, 2006 10:36 pmI just got back from the Advanced Riders Training motorcycle course. It was pretty informative. There were only 3 of the "Hot Chicks" there so it was okay.
The course covered the same things as the book Sport Riding Techniques by Nick Ienatsch. I have read that book and a few others numerous times so the material was not that new to me. But since there was an actual knowledgeable instructor available, I was able to ask a few question along with the other students and had a lot of things clarified.
On Saturday, we will be at the track at 8AM until 4PM.... that is probably close to 7 to 8 hours of riding, not to mention the 1.75 hours it will take to get out there. I am going to be so sore by the end of the day.
