Feb. 24th, 2003 03:38 pmI'm back at work. Whoopie.
It rained the entire week I was gone. I didn't get to play as much as I had planned. I spent my spare time researching the world of digital video, computers and motorcycles. I have been looking into a new computer since I received the new policy here at work about our use of the company's computer, internet and email. I understand these policies but I don't like the one that mentions that we have the right to quit anytime we want without any notice or explanation. And that the company has the right to terminate our employment without any notice or explanation as well. Anytime.
That's a lousy trade-off.
Valentine's Day was very memorable for me. Nesha loved the lilies and violet satin robe I got her. The lilies are still looking good today. And the violet works very well with her complexion and hair colour. She loved the way the satin felt against her skin. It's a beautifull satin robe with velvet trim and embroidery on the shoulders.
Nesha got me some chocolates and body wash. The chocolates were delicious. They're the kind that one uses in a massage and they worked great! They melted quickly, wasn't too thick and felt amazing on the skin. We took turns massaging each other. And licking it off each other. =)
The chocolate massage bar was supposed to last for 5 massages but there's only one left after our 2 massages. What? It was yummy!!
The dinner went well too. I decided to make a complete Greek course. There was the chicken souvlaki with seasoned baby potatoes, basmati rice, onions, roma tomatoes, and a Greek salad. I also included pita bread and tsaziki. The strawberries and swiss chocolate fondue didn't work as well. I overheated the chocolate and made brownies by accident. Nesha loved the brownies so maybe it did work out after all....
So, the Olympics 2010 bid here has been won by the "Yes" votes. After hearing how the corporations put in $700,000 into the campaign as opposed to the "No" vote's $5,000 that's not too suprising. It's awful and exasperating to know that everyone fell for the promotions and marketing. The information to warn people of hosting the Olympics in our cash-strapped province didn't get to enough people. It's basically a party paid by the public for the rich people and corporations to enjoy. Why would anyone want to finance a party they're not invited to? Perhaps everyone's invited but just how available are the tickets to the popular events and can everyone enjoy them? And just how can we pay for all this in the midst of such massive cut-backs. Sure, there might be some pros but the majority of them are going to benefit the priviledged and big businesses.
The rent and housing in the area are going to be increased soon. It's just too much of a coincidence. It's probably in preparation of the projected increase of people and businesses moving here after the Olympics. However, all hope isn't lost yet. Vancouver might not even win the actual bid.
Oh yeah... how is everybody?
