My sister was up from Seattle and we all finally got to get together. We met up for dim sum and I thought I was going to be early but I got lost. Again. They gave me lousy instructions. Most of the time when I'm supposed to meet my family at a restaurant, it's like an Easter egg hunt. I rarely have an easy time finding the place. Dinner with them later in the evening was no different as I went by the restaurant and had to double back. Luckily, I saw my sister walk into the restaurant the second time around, who turned out not to be my sister but I was at the right place. :P
I know it's just me. I get lost all the time... even if it's a place I've been to before or even more than once. That's why I prefer not to have any set destinations when I go on road trips. I can't get lost if I don't have to be at any specific place...
At my other sister's place, we all got together to look at my vacation photos and to watch the video. However, my mom and sisters were too distracted talking about the free BC Hydro light bulbs and their favourite potato chip flavours to pay much attention to the video. Sigh... a week of editing the video footage down for them felt wasted. At least my Burnaby sister asked to borrow the video to watch later on as she admitted that our mom and other sister distracted her. And after 3 months, I almost got my Baraka DVD back too but while I was watching it, my brother-in-law saw how interesting it was and I ended up leaving it behind so that he could watch it. While my sister had it, he didn't even know it was around. I don't mind since I am sure he'll fully appreciate the deeper meaning of the film.
The rest of the weekend also kept me busy. I had to winterize my bike and store it until next year. And I had to take care of Nesha's recovering kitty, Marlin, as well as take him in for a checkup at the vet. His progress is slow but improving. He has more use of 3 of his legs and his 4th one has improved a lot. He still needs physiotherapy from us but he is showing signs of improvement.
My busy life continues today. I came in at 5:30 this morning to give me some time to get my car checked by Aircare and bring my dress shirts to the cleaners. Unfortunately, I can't get out early enough to get to the post office to pick up my mail. There's something screwy with our building so the postal carrier won't deliver our mail. It's being held at the main post office. Since the hours for picking up held mail is from 9 - 2:30 on workdays, I can't get down there because of work. We haven't had mail delivered in almost 3 weeks.
My Seattle sister brought back the motorcycle jacket I got Nesha in preparation for Christmas. It's beautiful and I want to borrow it but the chest area sticks out a bit. Too bad for me because the rest of it fits perfectly.
