I was rear-ended in traffic on the way to work this rainy morning. While stopped at a red light, I could see the driver behind me looking down beside her and not paying attention. I suspect that she was dialing a cell phone.
I didn't have time to move out of the way so I had my morning jarred rather quickly. It was a good thing I left my motorcycle at home. There was no sound of skidding and she only looked up after the impact.
I was going to check and see if the other driver was okay but since she had quickly gotten out of her car to check on me, she seemed fine. The spare tire that hangs on the back of my car was pushed in a bit but her car was much more damaged. The hood slightly curved up away from the lines of her car and there was a rythmic click coming from the engine compartment.
I felt bad for her as I know she'll have some hefty unexpected expenses coming her way, whether I decide to make a claim or not.
I was fine at the time but I can feel some soreness setting into my shoulder muscles and neck area. I have been hit harder before playing hockey so I know I should be fine. I'm just glad none of us was hurt badly.
