We are having our company Christmas celebration today. Every year in the past, we would dress up and attend a lavish function at the Hyatt or Hotel Vancouver. We used to be the head office in Canada but ever since we were bought by YPG, that status has been transferred to the Calgary office. Their Christmas celebration will be an all day event held at a catered banquet hall with special speakers.

Our celebration will consist of three 1.5 hour shifts of a luncheon in our cafetaria.

I just got back (to my desk) from the luncheon. As we sat at our table, things just got more and more bizarre and funny. There was a sign at the dessert table stating "Only one dessert per person" and we all got a gift. At first, some of us thought it was a bath towel but it turned out to be a realy soft microfibre blanket. Hmmm... that must have been our annual bonus for this year. :P

With everything taking place in our office, no DJ (although we had a 3 piece band playing Christmas music), no day off and a strict dessert policy... there must have been a lot of money saved.

Well... a free lunch is always usually welcome, although it was mediocre. My, how things have changed here. Thinking back to all the past years, we really were spoiled.
