The movie remake of King Kong did not disappoint at all. Naomi Watts put in a fine performance and looked gorgeous. Peter Jackson did a wonderful job with this movie. I treated my brother out last night to see it since he came over to use my shower. The theatre appeared to be sold out but luckily we got there early. We had missed the previous showing so we bought tickets for the next one and hung around my place for a bit before heading back. It's great having a theatre complex within walking distance from home.
I thought the pace of the movie was very smooth. My brother felt that there were many scenes that went too long though. But in general, we agreed that it was a good movie. I do have to admit that the bronto-stampede went a bit long and was a bit far-fetched. The scene with a character successfully shooting insects off someone repeatedly, even though there was some emphasis on his non-existent skills/experience with firearms was too long and unbelievable as well, especially since he was using a machine gun.
The special effects, emotions conveyed and expressed, the obvious attention to detail and research to bring Kong to life, some good acting... these elements and more were brought together to form a well done movie.
( Except for Jack Black... )
