She smiled somewhere

This is a global event for joining indigenous nations around the world during the Spring Equinox in calling for justice and for healing.

According to a sacred prophecy by Otomi elders, the day when the sounds of 8,000 Sacred Drums join together is the beginning of the healing of Mother Earth.

When the event started, everyone with a drum joined in to play them all together. Suddenly, a bald eagle appeared overhead and circled slowly above us and the drumming. Everyone cheered. It was truly one of the most amazing and spiritual things that I had seen!

The Canadian-born Chinese had no citizenship and, therefore, no voting rights. If they were fortunate enough to obtain a university education, they couldn't practise their training in accounting, law or medicine because each professional society required Canadian citizenship.

At the outbreak of World War II, many Chinese-Canadians joined the war effort by serving overseas and proving their loyalty. As of 1947, Chinese-Canadians were finally granted the right to vote in Canadian elections.
