Distractions
Jun. 28th, 2006 04:25 pmWhen I ride my motorcycle, I am many times more attentive than usual. I always make a point to make sure I know what vehicles are around me at all times and look far ahead to better predict what is coming up.
Having said all that, it is alarming when a blonde in a sexy black dress walks along the street waving frantically at every car driving by in the fast traffic. I could not see her face. I had to make an effort to keep my attention on the road and not look back as I passed her and slowed down for the red light ahead. I was extremely worried that the truck behind me was going to turn me into a hood ornament. Lucky for me, the driver of that truck behind me was a woman.

Jun. 28th, 2006 07:26 pmYesterday, (another) one of our coworkers left as she is moving to Campbell River with her family. She had brought in 4 boxes of donuts and muffins for all of us in the morning. We went out and treated her to lunch. It was so hot out there that I actually looked forward to working in the office. The air conditioning is worth it!
With all the donuts, the large lunch (the Thai chicken rollup at Milestones is yummy!) and the "farewell" cake, I definately needed a good workout later in the evening. I rediscovered the goodness that comes with a sleeveless shirt as I worked up a good sweat.
I'm actually lucky that I live so close to the ocean as it doesn't get as hot as the areas further inland. I love bugging my friends by telling them that it's so cold in my building that I had to put on a sweater.
