I just got back from the Advanced Riders Training motorcycle course. It was pretty informative. There were only 3 of the "Hot Chicks" there so it was okay.
The course covered the same things as the book Sport Riding Techniques by Nick Ienatsch. I have read that book and a few others numerous times so the material was not that new to me. But since there was an actual knowledgeable instructor available, I was able to ask a few question along with the other students and had a lot of things clarified.
On Saturday, we will be at the track at 8AM until 4PM.... that is probably close to 7 to 8 hours of riding, not to mention the 1.75 hours it will take to get out there. I am going to be so sore by the end of the day.

Date: 2006-07-13 06:21 am (UTC)just duct tape a big, down pillow on to your seat. no one will mind. i'm sure the hot chucks wanna protect their fannies every once and a while too. you'll start a new trend! why buy a corbin when u can just sit on a big, fluffy pillow? i can picture you and the hot chucks tearin' it up at the track on your big fluffy, pillow seats. how cool is that?! pretty soon all the stunterz will use 'em too. fuck, i'm a genius.

Date: 2006-07-13 06:33 am (UTC)I found that much of what was taught in the classroom was stuff that I had learned with experience and reading over the past years that I have been riding. That part would be much more beneficial for someone with only a year or two of riding under their belt. However, I have never rode around a course... and with instructors showing me how to ride properly, so that will be the most valuable part of the course for me. I'm sure you would gain a lot from it and it would increase your confidence a lot more but it is pretty expensive at $350.
Since there were only 3 Hot Chicks, it actually wasn't too bad at all. Although one of them kept making really silly comments every once a while so it almost became annoying. I thought that group would be much more friendly towards other female riders though but I don't know since I'm just a guy...
Those three said they are also there because they all have lowered bikes and kept touching the footpegs on the ground during turns... earning them the nickname "Sparky"! They want to solve that problem...
